Positive Psychology
The term Positive psychology emerged in 1998, when Dr. Martin Seligman, then-president of the 
American Psychological Association challenged psychology researchers to study not just mental illness, 
but mental health. Dr. Seligman sparked a revolution in psychology which continues to grow with 
researchers around the globe producing groundbreaking research.

Positive psychology is the study of happiness and the elements that must be present in order for people 
to thrive. Psychology traditionally focused on what is wrong with people. Positive psychology focus
on what is right with people and how they can become happier and more fulfilled. Positive psychology 
is the study of optimal living and answers the questions: What makes people thrive? What fosters 
happiness? Resilience? Strengths? Positive emotions?

I use the positive psychology approach in my daily practice. Having the knowledge of positive psychology is powerful and a great way for me to help my clients thrive, grow, and reach their fullest potential.
